Default another walkthrough...clear turns

well i just finished up getting out those ugly amber lenses for the turn signals and thought id share my walkthrough. I borrowed from a few different peoples past threads but did it a little differently for those who are thinkin of doing this. It was 2 and a half hours from start to finish which isnt bad considering i had never even examined my front bumper bolts. Keep in mind the bumper stayed on through the process.....

tools i used:

small pair of needle nose vice grips
phillips screwdriver
10mm socket
hammer

There are 3 bolts you can get to easily from the top, but there are two underneath which can be difficult. In the second pic, i went into the wheel well and took out the screw that goes vertically(holds bumper) and the 10mm bolt that goes horizontally to help loosen the bumper.

Next, take out a few undercarriage bolts holding the bumper in place. I only took out the far 2 ones, taking them all out is unneccesary. after that you should be able to pull down on the bumper to get to the 2 bolts hidden underneath the headlights....

after all the bolts are out disconnect all the plugs and pull out the headlight. easy, right? heres another angle on that bolt that i went through the wheel well to get. You could also go through the fog light hole, but i didnt feel like taking that apart too...less to put back together hah

Now that you have your headlight on your lap...well hopefully its there instead of thrown into the woods for the aggrivation it caused... grab the screwdriver and hammer and start tapping away. this is the part that took me the longest because i was too afraid to hit hard. Once the pieces are small enough grab the vice grips, grab ahold and start pulling. YES, it CAN be done!

after the amber shards are out, go back outside, plug in the headlight, bolt it up in reverse order, and you're done! wasn't that all worth it???

It takes guts to take a screw driver and hammer to a $1200 light . looks good finished though. I'm assuming you put an amber bulb in there?

The L-sport front looks nice too.

Good job and explanation. I have to install new headlights soon and I am relieved that I dont have to remove the front bumper to do it.

Looks damn good, Execellent job. You have a lot of patience and a good eye. I would think there is an easier way to remove the yellows, but guess not. great job tho. Your pics give great detail step by step. But yeah the hammer would scare me.

1200 dollars!? wow if i knew that maybe i would've rethought my plan of attack and thanks for the compliments, it really looks so much better, cleans up the front nicely.

blacksc400, it took me about 2 and a half hours from start to finish, and that was including having to pack everything up and into the garage because of rain....with an extra set of hands i'm sure it could be done faster
