AliExpress "Magic" Modules for Auto-Windows & Mirrors... Is this a trap? 😂

While I’m down the rabbit hole of upgrading my 2016 ES300h, I came across these "OBD/Plug-and-Play" modules on AliExpress that claim to do it all. You know the ones—they promise to give you auto-rolling windows, moonroof closure on lock, and even power-folding mirrors just by plugging a little box into the door wiring or OBD port.
Now, my "too good to be true" alarm is ringing pretty loud.
I’m especially curious about the power-folding mirror claim. Since my car didn't come with that option, I'm fairly certain there are no motors in there. Unless this $80 module includes a tiny team of invisible mechanics who install motors in my side mirrors while I sleep, I’m guessing that feature is a pipe dream for my specific trim.
That said, has anyone actually tried these for the windows or moonroof? I'd love the convenience of the windows rolling up automatically when I walk away, but I’m also not trying to fry my ECU or deal with a parasitic battery drain.
Is this a hidden gem that actually works, or am I just asking for a dashboard full of Christmas lights and a blown fuse? Would love to hear if anyone has taken the plunge!
I looked into this for my ES, and while the setting isn't available in the factory menus, I found a workaround. After some digging, I discovered an app called Carista that connects via a wireless OBD2 scanner to reveal hidden features disabled by default.
It’s technically a paid app, though some 'free' versions are floating around. I paired it with my VEEPEAK OBD2 scanner, and it worked perfectly—I was able to enable the auto-roll-down windows via the key fob and the 'roll-up' feature via the door lock. It also lets you customize a ton of other settings like parking sensors, climate control, and lighting.
don't know about this one on alibaba, but i bought an auto-fold module that plugs into the OBD for my GX - cost less than $30 - and it works like a champ. BUT, i'm 99.999% sure you have to already have folding mirrors for it to work. the module just adds the fold when locked program.
