Default SC430MODS GPS Carplay upgrade done.

This took a while as I did a lot of the work myself. A good friend of mine installed the rear camera and put it back in the dash. Could not be happier. Was able to keep my bluetooth with iPod controls so I have all the options.

Looks great and well worth it!!

How long was the whole process of shipping to and from SC430Mods and then to install take you?

Once you send the screen off it takes about a week and a half to get it back. For total time I'd guess a minimum of 10 hours from start to finish. The biggest reason for time is dealing with brittle plastic, watching the videos to really understand each step, then carefully going step by step. The more experienced the car audio shop the easier and quicker it will go. There were several pieces of plastic that were cracked, or broken, and had to be repaired and luckily superglue fixes all. After all I went through I could not be happier with the results as having the GPS and Apple Car Play up high in the dash where it belongs is fantastic. Truly the best option!

@TheHulk9er -- We had ordered/received from SC430Mods, the back-up camera and Bluetooth adapter because we wanted to keep the Nav stock and planned to install this spring.

Soon after your posts above Up arrow, we were able to get an appt with Calvin that Saturday 3/28 to have them installed and somehow ended up getting the

4.0 Nav upgrade w/ Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, backup camera and Bluetooth adapter,
the Throttle Controller + ThrottleBox,
the One-Touch top opener,
and mph HUD -- quite a lot and love them ALL!!

How convenient is the functional Nav and one-touch opener?! We've been having so much fun with the throttle controller as well and SO glad we finally got the backup camera Sweat grinning

I don't know why we planned to keep it stock and WHAT FOR?!... for the next person?! HAH -- we just decided we were going to enjoy our SC for us and who cares about resale value as we plan to keep it for the long haul

Oops -- forgot to mention we had also purchased one of their new gear-shift handles and just put that on the other day. We plan to keep adding items we like as SC430Mods keeps making them Cool

One thing we got last fall ( not from Calvin ) was puddle lights that shine SC430 -- the Lexus badge on top and SC430 below it. Gonna install those after work today.

We are so happy now with the new Mods -- We are on our way Beaming face with smiling eyes

For those SC430 owners out there thinking about upgrading your NAV or getting other Mods specifically made for the SC430 -- I highly recommend anything on the https://www.sc430mods.com/ website. You won't be disappointed. We couldn't be happier with everything we've gotten with NO regrets

Nice. I have some of these installed and some still in the box. Waiting for the weather to get better. Calvin is a great guy. He stands by his product.

Yes, he is — and so thankful he took the time to create all these mods for us to enjoy!!

We were waiting for warmer weather as well and just so happened to luck out with an appt for Calvin to install for us

Question: One of our other plans this spring was to repair ML speaker foams with the Simply Speakers Repair Kit — Have you already done this?

https://www.simplyspeakers.com/lexus...fsk-sc430.html

As you know speaker foam degrades over time and owners have thought their speakers were blown, only to find out they weren’t, after this repair.

Has great reviews and worth trying first before spending lots of money on new speakers.

We bought this Kit last Nov after waiting for them to be restocked, and I see on the link they’re out of stock again after having several hundred available.

I did the left side a while back. I will do the passenger side soon. The removal of the door trim is harder than the speaker repair. I think I broke the small bracket for the door lock mechanism but somehow managed to package it together so it still works. I didn't put the window switch back since that is also a part that breaks. I have the parts for the window triangle corner piece that I want to install next.
I have some pictures I can send you after 4/15.

Thanks for your response!!

You didn’t mention how your left side turned out…

I did hear parts are brittle and you have to be extra careful when removing, so we bought one of those plastic tool kits from Amazon and hope it helps.

We also plan to watch lots of DIY videos, besides the ones offered on Simply Speakers website.

Yes, please post pics to this thread when done and able, as I can’t be the only one besides you that plans to do this repair kit.
