Hey everyone. I've been on hiatus for a while but wanted to show everyone what i worked on.

Goodbye Navi. Hello Windows 8 os MacOS?-forumrunner_20140403_073434.png

Screen is power by 12 volts. Machine is battery powered. Looking to pick up a macbook pro with no screen to rewire the power button on the steering wheel. Screen has hdmi, vga and a usb touchscreen universal usb driver.

Its awesome. Even with windows speech recognition, i can control my pc by voice. This project is only 30 percent complete so will update with yt video soon once complete.

Looking to add some usb inputs to make this carputer look like a beast.

Welcome to the world of the SC430 CarPC!

It's a small club.

Looking forward to seeing the end result.

I installed mine several years ago and it's still the mod I use EVERY day. It *is* my stereo.

Had a couple of bad engine mounts that were throwing a check-engine light on me every 3-4 weeks. Was really nice to be able to just pull up the OBD-II data while stopped at a light, see that it was just an evap system error, clear the code, and have the check-engine light go away, all before the light turned green again.

Nice job! my only concern is for a screen that small it's hard to really use windows or mac. That's why android and IOS have their own UI and plus it uses less power consumption. But I really like that Idea! So did u replace your Navigation Screen? and if so what brand?

I too want to know if you changed your navigation screen and what brand. Was it difficult to change the screen. I ask because I want to replace my navi screen for a better screen that willl serve exclusively as a rear view camera that will always be on

Plus 1 here as well. I don't like the OEM screen resolution. My Pioneer AVIC-Z150BH aftermarket radio display is much better.

Hey All,

Sorry for the delayed response. The screen is a Samsung 7 inch muktitouch touchscreen.

I used the OEM navigation housing and removed the screen and internals. Project isnt complete uet. Still need to add a bunch of other goodies. Inckuding a drop, custom exhaust and possibly a color change. I think sc430 looks great in a LFA yellow color.

Heh John:

Thanks for getting back to all of us. Your thread is what a lot of us have been waiting for as we all hate our old cloudy navigation screens and thought there was no hope.

Please answer this. Is it really difficult removing and replacing the navigation screen. Could you outline the steps for that removal and rate that task.

Also will any 7" screen fit.

Like I earlier posted. I do not need the replacement screen to have navi capabilities. I ant a good up to date LCD screen to play videos and to serve as a backup camera

Hey there!

It is not difficult to remove the navigation. I will be posting up a YT video this weekend. As far as taking out the navigation, its first the Climate control (yank out) > AC vents > Passenger Wood panel > remove the screws holding the navs housing > unplug the wires. Voila. Now you have the nav housing. Make sure the rip out the guts until you have a the frame of the screen and housing base.

Best screen to purchase is this one:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/HDMI-Samsung...-/120964621436

Its the same one I used. You would be able to plug the screen into your ac (ignition powers screen) and wire the aux wires to the backup camera. Should have the module on the board of the screen.

I'll try TRY to post up a YT video. But what I can say is that this. Its very exciting. You'll learn a lot more about your SC430. I ripped out the Nav box and stuffed an amp and all. (will show off in video)

Wow! This is amazing! Way to take things into your own hands! Thinking out of the box, for sure! Like with my mods, I like to see owners go above and beyond. Good luck!
