2004 SC430 VaisTech SLU Issue
Upgraded iPhone to iOS 5.1 SLU iPhone interface does not work unless SC ignition is turned off and on. I think if iPhone is connected before car is cranked the connection will work as well. Have not tried but I think turning iPhone off and on will work as well.
Never had a problem before iOS 5.1
Anyone else with 5.1 and SLU issues?

SLU has two AUX inputs. One is a 3.5 and one is iPhone connector which Also charges the phone. The 3.5 works but seldom used. The iPhone. Connector is the one that is flaky now after upgrading to iOS 5.1

did you install it? I have an SLU I simply have two RCA audio inputs one is hooked up to my WD TV for movies and such and the other is hooked up to the 3.5mm jack which I use for my ipod. If you had this installed by someone else then all they did was they hooked up an ipod cable to it that plugged direct to your iphone/ipod which on the other end the audio went into the SLU and they tapped into a power sorce like you cig lighter wires. My guess is that if they did this the accessory they used has compatibility issues with the new OS update. Perhaps it was not OEM apple I have seen that happen first hand even with ipod docks which in this case is essentially the same.
Are you sure you dont have the sl2-up? I believe that one had ipod direct plug in with charging but I didnt think it worked with the 02-04 SC430.

It is a SLU. I think that is the only one that works with 2004. Vais Tech offers the SLU with the SLI cable but you have to ask for it. My installer used the iSimple cable. It has worked for over 2 years, then upgrade to iOS 5.1.
Vais Tech of course points to the iSimple cable since it is not their SLI cable.
Please remember it worked for over 2 years and still works if you connect before you crank the car, turn the car ignition on/off and I think if the iPhone is turned on/off. All of that seems to reset something so it continues to work just not the way it used to.
I suspect you are right that the power source comes from elsewhere. Again Vais Tech does the same thing with their SLI cable and the SLU.
I have both inputs that work. iPhone connection and 3.5 Aux. Both work when the right Aux is selected.

ah makes sense, I had an ipod dock that once i upgrade I kept getting the "this device not supported" pop up it still works just annoying something. I think that the wire compatibility does not work with the new OS...which I know sounds stupid but thats your only change.
