Default Best way to launch an sc? Power brake method?

Dear Friends,
I have heard various discussions about using the power brake method to launch an sc to minimize 0-60 time. Could someone please explain how this works? Also, does revving the engine in N and then slamming into D work as well? I'd imagine the latter kills the tranny..

lex
don't ever rev. the engine and slam it into gear, that will kill your trans. at the track I would power take off. on the street normal take off. remember to have your traction control off.
lex whats the stall on your car now?

Why don't you try the slamming it into D thing and let us know how it works:

Default Neutral drops

We used to call doing that neutral drops, mostly did it with our Dad's cars before we could afford our own. Yeah, let us know how it turns out. LOL

put some slicks on... turn off traction control... left foot on brake ... right foot on gas.. let off brakes and floor it.. then pull over when you see flashing lights behind you.. =)

Default Brake Torquing

Sometimes it's easier to simply demonstrate than explain.

I don't know. 1st gear.

I didn't look at the tach. Learning to drive many years ago in cars without tachometers taught me to drive by feel. I only look at the tachometer on cars and motorcycles with manual transmissions when shifting gears at or near redline.

I was in drive, so 1st gear. As far as I know, you can't brake torque launch in any gear but 1st. Even if you pull the lever over to selectable and place it in 2nd, you'll still leave in first and it will shift to second automatically and not shift higher unless selected by the driver. Even then, I think it'll shift to third near redline without driver selection to prevent over-revving the engine.
