Default Vertical adjustment of the mirror - frozen

My left side mirror freezes up sometimes when engaging the reverse. Any tips on how to "thaw" it?

the plastic gear inside the mirror mechanism is worn out, needs to fix that by going to dealership (expensive) or replace yourself by getting old used ones from ebay

The Lexus mechanic who did mine (under warranty) said this is the only problem area for the whole car and is a problem across the Lexus line. I immediately changed my setting for the mirror not to move during REVERSE gear to lessen wear and tear.

Is it difficult to replace? How do I "unhook" the mirror glass?

I thought you guys were crazy. I have had an SC for about 6 weeks now and I never noticed the left mirror changing a bit as I put it into reverse. It isn't much. What good does that do? How do you disable the feature?

Put the switch in the "Center" position and it will not move during reverse. The idea is to help you see the curb during parking.

I found that it is really quite useful, once I got used to it. Right at first, it kind of threw me off, but now I kind of depend on it and miss it when driving my wife's Camry or a rent car that doesn't have the feature. It provides a much better perspective of what needs to be seen while backing up.

That's great advice, I've always shared it with all my Lexus owning friends!

My passenger side mirror worked fine side to side but not up and down.
Lexus replaced whole mirror (body casing and all) under warranty.
