Default Can I use my obd2 interior into my new obd1 shell?

11/24/13 I have a new question.

I looked behind the radio today of my new shell and wires are hacked and looked under the steering steering column and that's also messy From a alarm install that does not even work.

Can I take all the ignition switch and all keys and locks and install it on my 92sc4 shell? My 96sc3 has the oem Toyota alarm. Would I need to switch the key ecu is this possible?

Also does anyone know where the tail light ecu is located? I want to swap that also as I have a the 97 taillight and it does not hyperblink in guessing it has some thing to do with the newer year taillight ecu.

I have a 96 obd2 sc300 with clean black interior that I just wrecked. I just scored a 92 obd1
sc400 with tan interior. My question is can I swap all my black stuff into the 92 obd1 car and make everything function? Like the auto headlights and my climate control and stock radio since it has new LCD screens also along with my cluster because the lights are also upgraded.

The owner of the sc400 installed a radio and it looks spaghetti/butt connected ugly. Is it possible just to take all the dash harness and all that radio harness in my sc300 and put it into my new shell and just plug and play? Or is all the connectors different?

I'm not worried about the airbag since I have a racing steering wheel and I'll just leave the passenger side unplugged as this car will mostly see the track most of the time and some driving to the gym and back home.

Please help as soon as I get answers I'll start wrenching/swapping parts.

Thanks

Yes but the passenger airbag won't work with the 92. I wouldn't know what you'd need to make it work. Personally I wouldn't mess with it as things could go horribly wrong if you tried.

^^ I second this. 1992 cars don't have any of the critical sensors or wiring harness plugs needed to make this work. If you had a 1993 I'd say your good to go with an SPX airbag harness adapter but the first year SC's simply have no provision for the passenger airbag electronics even if you swapped out the entire dashboard.

You could swap over the ENTIRE body harness from a newer SC if you knew exactly what you were looking for but it's not advisable.

With the tail lights all you need is the pigtails, no ECU needed. The hyper link can be fixed with a relay. Go to where the factory relay is and replace it with a "led" relay, should fix the problem. As far as the other question, I have no clue, my wiring experience is from other models (rx7, Saturn, etc).

Ok, did some searching. Turns out our cars are different than most others. So I copied a link that will help you best http://m.clublexus.com/forums/showthread.php?t=428988 follow the links in that thread and choose a path for you. I can tell you that I used those resistors on a motorcycle build with success so they do work. Sorry if I mislead you a bit. If you can get the 97+ relay cheap that would be the cleanest and easiest fix
