I need some help have looked at google and tried to search on forum but nothing found . I have a 93 sc400 with AT i am rebuilding the car and the shifter **** was broken so i found one at junkyard i removed the trim around the shifter and took the old **** off but the bottonm portion of the **** was broken and the previous owner had put some kind of glue all down around inside the assembly . i got the old plastic off but the spriing and rod that are comuing out of the metal tube that is the actual shifter are messed up the rod wont spring up and down and the only way i can get the key off is to pull up on the rod i cant put a new **** on it at all and have no clue what to do . can you replace that entire rod or the metal shifter tube if so how can you remaove it is it bolted to the trans please if anyone has done this can help me give me diagram or something or talk me through it its a big mess now sorry to be so long winded but im really at a loss now

Does anyone have a DIY on how to remove the shifter assembly not the **** i see thats been gone over hundreds of times but my entire rod and spring assembly insidie the shifter is broken .i dont know how to or if you can remove it or how to remove the entire shifter and replace with one from junkyard thanks tom
