BUMPY!

i replaced my regulator awhile back in my 94 sc400 and the window doesnt go down all the way but its from another sc400 so it is different between years which is absolutely ridiculous! (lexus/toyota do some dumb things) ... its so aggravating, is there any ghetto rig to make it go down all the way?

bought it from someone on here and he assured it would fit flush butttt i guess were all wrong sometimes.

Default Regulators change from year to year

I have e 93sc400 and pulled a regulator off a 96 sc400 and the bolts don't line up. Im about to drill new holes and see if that works. Ifoso I will post pics of my findings.

Maybe an "improvement" of some sort in the later years to avoid a particular issue.

That could be true but u would think that two different models of the same year would have the same regulator.

I never knew there were two different regulators for the SC. That's so weird...

Agreed. I almost bought a 300 regulator for my 400 as a back up. Good thing I stumbled on this!

I stumbled across this thread while searching for "sc400 window regulator difference by year," and I think I can help shed some light on it based on this:

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/per...-part-s-2.html

The earlier comments that the difference is by year, not specifically by SC3/SC4, would appear to be correct. My door glass height discrepancy (almost exactly the same as the window regulator rail height discrepancy, imagine that) is between '94 and '95 SC400s. My '94 was a late '93 build, which fits the info in post #8.

I haven't taken my door card back off to compare regulator mounting points, but it sounds like I would be out of luck with swapping in the newer regulator to match the newer glass and allow it to go down all the way.

Of course, that doesn't answer the chicken & the egg riddle, namely which change (glass height or regulator/track) necessitated the other. But it may help people determine which type they're looking for.

This should be in the FAQ area.

Yeah... it's all by production date. After 30+ years, my '94 SC400 driver's window regulator just went bad. My '94 SC400 was 12/93 build which means the regulator is different from a '94 SC400 built Jan 1994 or later. How do you find the build date - on the VIN sticker on the driver's door jamb.

For the regulator, is it "find it in a junkyard" at this point? Saw advertised a new Lexus OEM Jan '94 regulator and motor on LexusPartsNow.com (LH 24050) for the lovely price of $721. BUT... that won't fit the 12/93 build which needs 24041.

Like everyone is saying, why did Lexus rev this thing three times?!
