the one and only key has been lost if i swap out the whole set of locks with a set of matching locks and keys will it work. as in does the key need to talk to the computer would i have to have any programming done or does the key just need to turn the lock, for the ignition i mean

I believe the key always operates independent of the ECU -- you can swap ECUs without having to reprogram anything -- but I think the later years have the key's remote unlock programmed into the ECU or vice versa.
