Default What's needed to add stock subwoofer to base Soarer?

My TT Soarer never came with a subwoofer, and I would like to add one in the factory spot. What all would I need? I know the stock Nakamichi comes with the mounting brackets, but what do they bolt to? And would I need the Lexus parcel shelf with the hole for the subwoofer, or could I just cut a hole in my current one?

After doing my audio upgrade and having it done since January I gotta say I think you should just go with a small sub box in the trunk. That being said if you don't want my advice, you would need the subwoofer mounting bracket which I'm sure someone will sell you in a jiffy. Different year SC's have different mounting brackets though!. You can definitely cut a hole in your parcel shelf. The sub bracket mounts to the rear deck frame.

Thanks Biddles, is this the mounting bracket you're talking about? It gets cut out from the stock 10"?

Yea that's a good bracket, my 96 SC had that one. My 92 SC had a different bracket that was plastic/metal. If you check out my thread you can see it, I added wood to make up the difference....

Ok I read your thread. I figured there were 2 different brackets, one for the 10" Nakamichi and one for the 8" Pioneer, but now I see there are 2 different 10" ones. So you tried the black one but don't remember why it didn't work? They look almost exactly the same. I was hoping to get the black one with the ring, glue them together, and get a shallow subwoofer so I'd have enough clearance just with that without adding any wood. Your kicker looks pretty tall so you probably would have had to add the wood anyways instead of just using the plastic ring.
