clean fuel injection system service
#16
I got around to sea foaming my RX330 today but instead of sea foam, i used the Berryman Chemtool Total combustion cleaner. It came with a tricked out tubing that you hook up directly to the car via brake booster cable or PVC valve. I used the brake booster connection. There's a y separator on the tube that draws in air to the car so the car won't stall out. Used the entire 15 oz can which took about 7-8 minutes. I was a little nervous since this is my 1st time doing this procedure but it went smoothly. Lots of white smoke out of the exhaust after I took it out for a spin. It was fun watching it spew out. Car runs even smoother and quieter than using just the fuel injector cleaner. I'm sure I could have achieved similar results using the Total Fuel System cleaner with PEA over a few tankful of gas but I couldn't wait that long to clean out the combustion chamber of carbon deposits. $13 for the Chemtool combustion cleaner kit and $4 for the Chemtool fuel injector cleaner. This DIY sure beats the $179 you would pay at the dealership and it's more fun to do. You will need to reset the check engine light by unplugging the battery or with a code scanner and reinitialize the windows. See pictures that follows. Sorry, no white smoke pictures.
