Default Help me decide

Hello!

I have a 2004 RX330 with 128000 miles. A friend has a 2009 RX350 with 61000 miles. He wants to trade with me. He wants another 5500 USD to compensate.
Those of you with trade in experience, do you think it is a good deal?

Notes:
Things I like about my current car over the other one: perl white (the oher is black), tinted glasses.
Things I like about the other ride: no cracks in dashboard, better wheels, more powerful engine, etc.

It obviously depends on both vehicles condition but realistically his car is worth $7500-10,000 more than yours....so I would do that deal ALL DAY LONG.

Your friend is nuts

$5500 buys you 60K miles and 5 years. That means you're moving up one year and 12,000 miles for each $1,100 (five times). That's a really good deal. As far as the window tint goes, you can add that. Not much you can do about the color on a used car. If you absolutely hate black, maybe you should pass. If you would only prefer not to buy a black car, go with it.
We have a black Highlander. It's what the wife wanted, I got used to it and now I kind of like it.
EDIT: The thing that bothers me, why does your friend want to do this?

Yes, why? Does he need money for something? If that's the case, yes, if not... hmmmm

Maybe Africa teaches you to be wary. Somewhere there's a snake in the grass. Are you sure you're not going to trade your Bible for an almanac? Sorry for all the idiomatic stuff, but keep you're eyes wide open.

Thanks for your reply!

I agree that it is a good deal. About the window tints, if it is not factory tint, there is a ticket where I live. About the color, I do not really have problema with black. It's just that I live in very dusty área and black accentuates that.

I understand about the concerns related to the deal. I descretly talked to him and it seems that he wants the deal because:

- He likes the effort I put in my aftermarket sound system (do not understand why, because I fancy his Mark Levinson);
- he likes the color of my car (go figure);
- The license plate shows that his car has been imported from the USA earlier than mine;
- He does not know much about the diferences between our cars.

On a side note, I wonder if switching to a 2010 infiniti fx35 with the market value of his ride would be a good choice. I like the RX a lot, but I live sporty rides (with some utility).
