Question idle rpm's

I've just recently purchased a 05 RX330. The cold idle rpm's seem a bit high to me. When I start the RX in the AM it initially runs at about 2000 rpm for a second or two and then settles down to about 1600rpms until the engine begins to warm up (about 3-4min.) This seems a bit fast to me as the transmission seems to be stressed when placing the vehicle in drive or reverse at 1600rpm. After a few min. the idle rpm settles down to about 800 and all is fine until I perfrom another "Cold" start. (I'm too impatient to sit in my RX waiting 3-4min for the idle speed to slow down to 800rpm)

BTW temps here in South Dakota have been in the 40's - 50's lately. It will soon be much colder..
My question: Is this normal behaviour for this vehicle?

Thanks for any input.

I think it is a issue with all Toyota products

sounds like you guys have a bad sensor (water temp, intake leak, etc,.). This is not normal. 1200-1500 for 30 seconds in warm weather and 45-60 seconds at below 32 degrees. after that it may stay 1000-1200 for another 30-45 seconds. again dependent on weather. it then should settle at around 650-750 rpms without a/c on.
