2001 RX300 no cluster, no heat, nothing
2001 Lexus rx300 - Just replaced the Battery and Alternator because my dash went out and I couldn't start my vehicle. once replaced it starts but still no dash, no heat, no windows, no locks. I need to release the shift lock in order to drive. Eventually the vehicle will turn off due to battery drain. I checked for parasitic drain. could my alternator be shot even with out using it??
Please advise

Remove all accessories/add on electronics.
Then remove fuses and add them one at a time while monitoring the current draw. You do have to wait 5 mins or so for things to go to sleep. You can disconnect the alternator to see if the alternator is draining out the battery.
Leave the heavy hitters out and drive out (if possible) to have the battery and charging system checked out.
Then start tracing what is contributing to the large current demand. Once the current drain is fixed you can start tracing the open (no voltage) to dash etc.
Please search the thread on parasitic draw (250-350 ma) is my memory serves me right.

I have checked all that and so has the dealer.
they are telling me I need a new ignition and ECM. Makes sense to me.
It's odd because there is a spot just before it turns over. the dash and all acc. come on. then once it starts it's gone.
hopefully this resolves my issues.
Thanks for the input and I will update when I get the Whip back

Previous owner had installed an automatic starter and it had shorted out. Took the lexus dealer about 5 min. I will be mailing the automatic starter to the previous owner telling him thanks
