Default Ipod adapter

Ive read where someone has tried to add an aftermarket radio, but with the a/c and heat controls in the radio screen, I cant see where it would be possible. Has anyone added an Ipod adapter like Crutchfield offers http://www.crutchfield.com/p_581CAST...a-Adapter.html ? Any solutions for adding options? This is for her 2001 RX300. I think its a Nakamichi. Any way of knowing for sure?

Thx
David

What does it say on the faceplate of the radio? It will either say Lexus Premium or Nakamichi.

Ty hypervish, I will check tonite. When I was in the "audio scene" in the 80's Nakamichi was one of the best. I remember paying over $200 for a 30X2 amp to push some tweeters.

If it's not a Nakamichi, Grom Audio makes a nice one I installed for my daughter. It disabled the CD player (which didn't matter to her), but I was originally trying to rig some multipole switch so the CD player could still be used -- no luck. CD controls now work the iPod. About $80 or so as I recall.

I'm putting the USA-SPEC brand in my 2000 RX300. I have one in my BMW and it works great.

I just put this in my RX.

USA-SPEC

and I needed this adapter cable
Adapter cable

My system was the Pioneer so it took the place of the CD Changer. The adapter cable plugs into the changer.

The GROM is cheaper than that unit and superior.

Why did you purchase the "adapter cable"? Does it allow you to use the CD changer as well?

Mine is a 2001 and apparently there were some changes to the radio harness. That is why it plugs into the harness that plugs into the changer. I can not use the changer anymore.

Yes the factory radio is pioneer.

If I would have know, I would have checked it out. I found this one and I bought the bluetooth version for my daughter.

The Grom installing is pretty easy also. Best $80 spend.
