Parasitic drain in my 1999 RX
Evenin' all:
My RX300 battery will go dead (totally) when left undriven for 2-4 weeks, sometimes as little as 2 weeks. I've check for a parasitic current drain and the car is pulling about 500mAmp when everything is off (disconnect battery -ve terminal wire and connect ammeter between negative battery terminal and negative terminal wire).
Any common causes of this that people have come across?
Thanks in advance,

Keith do a search on this topic.
500mA at sustained level is high. Normally the 500mA steps down after few minutes. If it does not then you have to start pulling fuses to trace down which circuit is drawing the current.

Thanks. Yes, I did do a search on the site and got a couple of relevant posts but none of which found the source (most just bought new batteries). There is a problem with corrosion on the door plunger switches in the LS460 which has caused similar battery discharges. The RX300 does not have the door plunger switches, so I'm thinking it may be the lock mechanism (which I understand controls this function). I was just wondering if anyone else had gone this route but, like I say, no definitive explanations in the forum so far.

When the current drops down below 200mA (swag) a good battery can sustain that.
I would suggest getting a battery tender ... HarborFreight sells them for $5-$10 depending upon coupon.
