Problem Starting 1999 RX300 190,000
My RX300 is haveing an intermittent starting problem. I turn the key to start it and nothing happens no crank or turnover what so ever. All electronics acting normal during this. I unhook the battery cable for a few minutes to see if it would reset. I even tried to jump it off. Nothing seemed to work so I had it towed to my machanic who was closed for the evening. The next morning my machanic said it started right up with no problems and contiued to start through out the day when he would check it. I went ahead and picked it up since they did not seem to be able to diagnose the problem. Anyone else on here had a similar problem. It don't know if it could be my key, starter, or just a freak thing.
Thanks

At that mileage, if your starter is original and has never been rebuilt, that is your most likely explanation. It is extremely easy to remove the starter, replace the contacts (that will cost you less than $10), and reinstall.

These guys are great, at least they were a few years ago. At your mileage I would install a new plunger and take apart the gear end to make sure the grease is live and redistribute it.

Brings back memories of my Trans Am from 25 years ago. I kept a baseball bat in the trunk to smack the starter when it would not turn over.

Thanks for all the info guys. I will use it. Drove the vehicle all weekend never could get it to repeat the problem . I may go ahead and order the parts and have them on hand for when it happens again.
Thanks again
