2008 RX350 having engine movement
NOT MINE
This belongs to a relative that is over 1000 miles away and he wants to know what he should do next.
The RX went in for a brake job and all of that was done without any issues. When he got the car back he noticed rough idle and vibration so he took it back. The mechanic drove it then tried to duplicate the problem in the shop by lifting the car off of the ground, putting it in drive, and spinning the wheels at very low speeds.
When it is going 8-10 mph and you apply the brake there is a clicking sound from somewhere in the engine compartment and the front side of the engine will jump up slightly. The mechanic said the front mount was shot so he replaced it with a new OEM mount. This is the $200 one that has vac lines going to it. The problem remains exactly the same with the new mount installed.
The owner thinks that use of vacuum in the brake booster is creating some kind of deficiency for the mount but is kind of stumped on the clicking sound. They checked everything in the suspension and CV axles already.
I'm not too familiar with how the active engine mounts work in the RX.
He wants help before throwing more parts and money at it.
