Default Oil leak peace of mind

In a few days I am going to replace the steering gear and while I'm messing around I am going to look to see if I have one of the rubber oil cooler pipes or the rubber VVT-1 oil lines.

The oil cooler pipe replacement parts I've found are:

Oil cooler - http://toyotaparts.bochtoyotasouth.c...tr=15767-31020
Gasket - http://toyotaparts.bochtoyotasouth.c...tr=11496-31010
Gasket - http://toyotaparts.bochtoyotasouth.c...tr=15785-31010

When I check the oil cooler part number on Sewells, it only shows the part as a replacement for 2011 and 2012.

I am even less sure that the part numbers I have for VVT-i are correct.

VVT-i - http://toyotaparts.bochtoyotasouth.c...tr=15772-31030
Gasket - http://toyotaparts.bochtoyotasouth.c...tr=90430-16012
Gasket - http://toyotaparts.bochtoyotasouth.c...tr=90430-16017
Gasket - http://toyotaparts.bochtoyotasouth.c...tr=90430-16016

When I check the VVT-i part number on Sewells, it only shows the part as a replacement for 2010, 2011, and 2012.

Does anyone who has done either of these installs have the part numbers they used?

I really want to make sure I have everything correct. Based on this How To (http://au.toyotaownersclub.com/forum...e-replacement/), I am going to want to beat a litter of puppies with a bag of hammers when I am done. I do not want to have to deal with not having all the parts.

Finally, are there any other common problems people have with the cars?

Thanks.

Default Oil leak

In response to your oil leak, I too experienced a major engine oil leak on our 2008 RX350. I am responding to your post as well as informing RX owners of this potential major engine oil leak that can lead to major engine failure. The rubber oil line that goes from the oil filter housing to the oil cooler failed ( a very very small pin hole) that let a huge amount of oil spray//leak from the engine. The result in a very short distance led to huge puddles of oil and a trail up and down the street. Found that no one sold the hose so I called Lexus only to find out that you had to purchase the entire assembly, the hoses were not sold separately. Upon receipt of the assembly, I found that the rubber lines had been replaced with steel corrugated lines. This tells me that this has been a common problem and Lexus redesigned the part. I have attached pictures of the old and new assembly and part numbers. I found that they can be purchased on line at lexusofroseville.net. Great people to deal with. Had the part in two days at about half the price of purchasing them from my local Lexus dealer. I would strongly recommend that everyone with an RX have it checked to see if it has the old style assembly. If you do, you might save yourself an engine by having it replaced. The oil cooler pipe assembly is part #1576731020 cost 86.36 gasket part #1149631010 cost 2.71 gasket Part #1578531010 3.34 Shipping $10.00 for a total of 102.41 You need 2 gaskets and they are different. It is not hard to install and those with mechanical ability can do it yourself. One pointer remove the studs on one side or the other when installing the new part.

Mmuzevich, there is a recent warranty extension for the oil cooler line replacement if they are leaking. Contact Lexus, they may reimburse you... http://www.lexus.com/contact/

There is also another thread discussing these oil cooler lines:

Can anyone verify the parts I listed for the VVT-i are correct? Mmuzevich already confirmed that the ones I listed for the oil cooler are correct.
