RX330 Console Cup Holder Won't Open
Hello,
First, I am new to this forum and would like to thank everyone for providing very helpful information. I have owned a 2006 RX330 for about 4 years now and have really enjoyed it. Unfortunately, recently the center console cup holder door came apart. The Lexus dealer wanted $400 to fix it - Yikes !! Following the information provided in the forum I have successfully taken the center console out, disassembled the cup holder assembly and put it back together. However, the door doesn't open now (unit is not reinstalled yet). Does anyone know how this "door opening" mechanism works? I am pretty good at stuff like this and I see the small white plastic pivot that opens the door. It seems like there should be a spring on it however to make is move correctly. Does any one have any ideas? Thanks in advance for any help.

There is a white "latch" mechanism underneath the door area on the bottom side. It is located on the side of the under assembly IIRC. Make sure that is functioning correctly.

I have the one spring installed - clearly it opens the door or keeps it open. I am not sure how it might be involved in moving the white pivot which is what unlocks the door. I actually gave up, removed the pivot and now the door can't lock so it remains open. which isn't bad - certainly better than it being closed and not being able to open it. Thanks for responding.

When I bought my RX330 a month ago, I thought I was having issues with the cup holder lid. I would pull and push it back and forth to get it to open. I would do this several times before it would open.My old lady then says, you're doing it wrong. She instructed me to pull the lid back towards the backseat and then release it.
LMFAO!!!!!! I felt like a complete idiot.

Well, it actually works with a fingertip push on the little silver bar. No pushing or pulling, just press straight down with one finger and it opens up.

That's the compartment where the coin holder is and space for junk. I'm talking about the cup holder and I believe the poster is as well.

Carver is correct. I found an image on the Internet which shows the silver bar on the cup holder lid which is where you are supposed to press to open it.
