DIY Defeating the RX300 security system
This is another fix I stumbled into. If you are having issues with the security system including strange door lock/unlock problems and alarm sounding even when you used your FOB to unlock it, you can turn off the security system without effecting any other function.
The security system will arm itself when it thinks you have left the vehicle and the doors are locked or you unlocked the doors and never opened the door and it thinks you are a Moron and re-locks the doors for you. If you leave any of the doors open and press the lock button on your FOB, there will be a solid beep/tone letting you know a door is open. All accept for the Engine hood. The system will allow you to lock the doors with the hood up. The system will not arm the security system until the hood is closed. Well, what if the system never knows the hood is closed. tt simply will not arm itself.
The fix is quick and simple. under the hood behind the hood latch is a plug to the engine hood courtesy switch which tells the RX if the hood is open or closed. It is an open circuit when the hood is closed and a closed circuit when the hood is open. Disconnect the plug and short the male plug by pushing a small solid wire into both female sockets. This completes the circuit and the system thinks the hood is open. seal it from water and tie it up away from moving parts and heat. That's it. Now the security system will never arm itself nor take possession of your vehicle again.
The red light on the dash will continue to blink as though the alarm is active.

Not starting (engine not catching --- kill of spark) is a immobilizer thing. I think the override/bypass would allow folks to steal your vehicle.
