changed out the front main seal - can i use synthetic now?
I was going to switch to synthetic oil, but after reading a few threads here, it appears that with higher mileage, there is a high possibility for the seals to leak.
I changed out the front main seal recently. Would it now be OK to switch over to synthetic? Anything else I should? I mainly want synthetic for the extra protection, although I do change out my oil every 2500-3000 miles.
Thanks and sorry for the repetitiveness of this question.

I switched over and now chang my oil every 4k, instead of 3k- it still comes out fairly clean.

question... would having oil missing from your engine be signs of a leaking seal? The problem with me is that there is no oil dripping on the ground.... but the oil seems to disappear...

Oil disappearing probably means you are burning it.
I switched to synthetic in my V8 and now notice a couple of drips in the driveway. When the trans comes out I will replace the RMS, and when the heads come off I will do the FMS. Hopefully the rings are OK.

I wouldn't say you're burning it necessarily if you're missing oil. That's a possibility, but so is this: If your seals aren't that bad and only leak oil when the system is pressurized and hot. I would check your exhaust and if it looks smoky or bluish at all, then I would say you're burning it.
I'm no expert, but I would say the 2 biggest ways for loosing oil would be a bad seal or valve seal or something like that.
