Default Results of Timing Belt Service

My 2000 SC 400 had never had a timing belt service performed (though it is supposed to be done every 6 years), so I recently had it done by my dealer. The results were amazing! Immediately after having the service performed, I drove from Los Angeles to Tucson at an average speed of around 75 mph, and I averaged 31 mpg. No, that is not a typo - 31 mpg. In a stock SC400! I could not believe it; I had previously averaged around 24 mpg. Throttle response was also quicker. Has anyone else ever had an experience like this? I was shocked that a simple timing belt service could have such effects. Is this normal?

Timing must have been off as the mpg should not change with a simple t-belt change unless they did a tune up at the same time?

You shouldn't see those types of results if you simply changed the belt and w/p.

I had my differential fluid changed at the same time, but other than that it was just the timing belt.

I don`t even get 31 mpg in my winter beater sunfire... have no clue how you are getting that in a sc400, you should be getting about 19-20 mpg
