Exclamation Help!!!

My fuel gauge isn't working anymore its stuck on half a tank so I gotta rely for the time being on the "E" light for when I need to fill up again... Idk where to start, should I take the cluster out and replace the needle?... I will appreciate any suggestions

There is a float on a potentiometer on the fuel pump that sends fuel level back to the ecm which sends the voltage to the needle. Id check with the float
