Misfire issues P0300, need suggestions
Got a 1997 2JZGE with 186K miles, drove it before the tune up and it was running smooth.
Prior to tune up, I thought about using Seafoam, bought a pint but ended up only using it in the crankcase. Overkill, really, I changed the oil and filter and pour 1/3 of Seafoam. Started the engine and let it idle for 10 minutes, changed the oil and filter again( oil not dark ) and drove it to work for 2 days, I accumulated 200 miles on it and changed the oil again.
I also changed the following:
Denso Iridium IK16, gapped to specs.
New wires
Cleaned throttle body
Replaced air filter
Cleaned MAF with MAF cleaner
3 oxygen sensors
Other stuff which I think has nothing to do with misfires:
New radiator and hoses with Toyota red coolant
Serpentine belt
Fuel filter
Trans fluid, OE Toyota
A/T filter kit
etc...
Ok, drove off my garage today into the freeway, car's running excellent. Going from freeway to on ramp, made a right turn, car starts misfiring. CEL light blinks about 4-5 times and it stayed on until I got into my work place.
Got a code from Autozone P0300 ... misfire in multiple cylinders.
About 2 days ago I heard erratic noise, not loud, between the distributor and cam sprockets.
My question is could it be the distributor that causes misfire since I changed the wires and plugs? The distributor leaks by the way.
Or is the Seafoam in the crankcase has something to do with it?
I don't think it is the MAF, after cleaning it I am sure it was dry before installing. I didn't break any hose from the removal of the throttle body.
What else could it be?
Just shred $100 for towing

Found the cluprit!
Upon the reinstallation of the TB, the coolant hose under it was installed halfway and I guess it leaked. As a result, it flooded the sparkplug area with coolant which causes the misfires.
That hose cost me $100 for towing! Still crying about it, yes.
Anyway, I have my SC back.
