sc300 racing in overdrive?

sc300 racing in overdrive?
when racing or just driving fast becides flipping the performance swich, should my overdrive be on or off? doesnt the OD affect how fast i can launch or anything like that?
i did some searchs but didnt really find anything... sorry

oder drive buttons turn on/off your...well overdrive. its your 4th gear or if you have a never a340e then its your 5th gear. if you are driving in the range of the 4th gear and turn off overdrive your rpm will go up. u drive in 3rd instead and waste more gas. thats about it. it gives you no advantage when launching.

whats a340e? so at a roll or if i was passing someone and i flipped the ect power switch and OD off would i have more acceleration? or does the OD being off not make a difference?

a340e is the automatic transmission found our cars. the older a340e's were 4 speeds transmissions. the newer ones(97 and up i believe), were 5 speed automatic transmissions.
automatic sc's are dogs off the line when stock. do some searching and look at the tread of modifying the transmission. you can upgrade the valve body and torque converter to help your situation.

Taking off overdrive would only come in handy if you were maybe racing through a twisty road where you would want the engine to stay at higher RPMs.
