Default Metallic substrate cats

What advantage do they have over regular ceramic substrate?

I've heard they are more tolerant to road damages...I've read where it supports this and found other who said otherwise. My ceramic substrate cats disintegrated on me after just 1 month of speedbump-scraping, ramp-grinding assaults. I need to make sure the purchase will last (for a while at least)

From they way they were explained to me, they were supposed to be more resistant to leaded race fuels, as well as a better overall cat longer lasting, free flowing ect. but at an added cost. In most cases 1200$ or more to put on 2 of them. I've never heard that they were better to road abuse.

uhm you have cats? why?

cats dont work with leaded/racing gas anyways. it ruins it.

unless you have rigirous inspection on weekly basis where you live i would just lose all the cats and get test pipes. even getting some made is cheap. if you have to go for inspection take off the pipes and put the cats back in

yeah we have kind of like smog inspections every 2 years...+ the cops are everywhere cracking down on modified vehicles so I'd rather give them nothing to pull me over for. I was thinking of test pipes but the prospect of a vehicle inspections where I might have to change everything back does not look too good

every two years? thats not bad.

what do you mean change EVERYTHING back? you take out the test pipes and but back the cats. if you are smart the first time around and use SS bolts and antiseize the whole job shouldnt take you more then an hour with the time allowing the car to cool. the cat is not going to make your car louder. if you remove the resonators or mufflers then yes but cats on their own wont get you more attention from the cops.

yep EVERYTHING back...cops can issue you a VI (vehicle inspections) and basically have me change ALL the mods I have done to my car back to OEM within 30 days or so...I know it's stupid, that's why I don't want to risk it
