Since you're going with the 6-speed driveline, check the "notchiness" of the center bearing of the TT driveshaft you purchased. The center bearing will wear a notch in the U-joint based on the shaft angle of the DS as it was installed in the Supra. Since the sc300 wheel base in longer, you'll have to lengthen the aft portion of the shaft. If the DS has too much of a notch worn in the center bearing from previous use, then a driveshaft shop cannot balance the shaft. I know this from experience.

Here's some unsolicited advice; try to get a hold of a GX470 SUV DS. Your local Lexus dealership might have quite a few lying around. Many DSs are getting replaced even though the shafts are fine (whole other story).

The GX470 DS is a perfect option for high hp sc300/400s. It's a one-piece, telescoping DS with a companion flange that coincidentally matches the output shaft of the getrag, perfectly. The flanges are designed to bolt on-center, and that really makes a difference with a one-piece DS.

Cut the differential flange off the TT DS and get the GX shaft retubed with the TT DS differential flange. Just make sure you take accurate measurements from the tranny output shaft to the LSD flange dampener.

I've had many different DS combinations in my 6-speed sc300; the GX470 DS is by far the best solution.

Alright, this list seems a bit on the high side. I think many of the parts listed can be had for quite a bit cheaper and some eliminated all together. Example: "Electronics" 6spd tach and Cpu? I havent heard anything about this on the other 6spd swaps that have been done. $1000, come on. There are many parts listed i know i can get locally cheaper, including the Diff, although I dont think you need to change out the rear. The stock diff is tough and there are gearing options, if you doing 500hp im pretty sure it will be fine, if your doing 800-1000 than maybe it would be wise to consult a knowledgeable pro, but even than would probably be more than sufficent. I know rebuilt v160s can be had for approx. $2500. We've shaved $3-4K off the cost already.

There are alot of misc parts that I'm sure you can save money on with a little deal hunting. If you want to just walk into a random Toyota dealer with a list of parts and walk out in a week with all your parts than maybe this list is right. Scott is right tho, the adapter plate and clutch arent cheap and need to be factored in.

Its ignorant to think a V160 swap will be a budget minded cake walk, but I doubt its as bad as listed above. Can we get some 6spd converts to chime in?

I did the complete conversion (tranny, misc parts, cross member, single disk clutch, DS, 6-speed diff, and right side rear axle) for about $5k. All parts were used except for the flywheel, pressure plate, and clutch disk.

Thanks for the info.
Did you have a manual before or was it an auto to 6spd conv.?
Is that price including labor?

It was a 5-speed before. Does not include labor because I perform all my own installation and tuning.

keep in mind...this example was on a JZ, not a UZ engine like this thread is dedicated to.

The 6spd swap on the UZ will have to include an adapter plate among other things to allow for the swap to happen.

$5k is definitely too low for the UZ swap. $10+k is probably too high. My intuition says it is somewhere in the middle.

Yes it costs a bunch of $$$$$$$$! I am waiting on one last part to arrive and its show time. This where the rubber hits the road. I should be shifting gears by the end of September. Can't wait!

(damn spacing wont do what i want to try and put the part numbers in a neat column, sorry it looks like a mess)

What I'm wondering is how much of these parts are needed for the swap if it's going in an SC300 (not the SC400), if the SC already has a 5spd in it? I would think most of that stuff would be eliminated. The reason I ask is because I have an SC300 w/5spd in it, and bought the Getrag, Auto TT diff, a triple disc Carbonetic clutch, which converts the clutch from pull to push type, so it comes with the flywheel bolts, slave cylinder, fork, etc. Basically, I'm wondering how much of this list applies to the SC3 w/ W58?

That's going to be a lot more direct of a swap. I'd look into threads here and on SF about putting the Getrag into an NA car as it'd be more help than this.
