Question BFI + Weapon R?

Does anyone think it's possible to use the Weapon R cold air box along with BFI techniques to create a cooler box? Or is the WR box more restrictive? I couldn't find any actually specs for the WR. If the the WR is effective I'd like to try using it with the BFI vacuum idea.
If anyone has any information on the WR vs. stock box it would be greatly appreciated.

I think it's possible, but then the BFI is essentially a cold air intake (you'd have to remove the factory airbox to fit the pod filter anyway).

Yea I figured it wouldn't be as good as the BFI. Pods for the SC have a bad history as I've read.
Sounds like I'm going to build myself a BFI with lots of heat-shieldy materials and maybe a clear window just to show off a bit.

Suggestions on material to use?
For the clear top and heat shielding sides
Maybe if I get it done good I could market some.

What did you use to cut the plexiglass? I searched a bit on the internet, and it seams that heat is an issue when cutting...cuz, the heat from a saw blade just melts the plexiglass back together...

oh...and what did you guys decide to use for insulating material? Just trying to get ideas...

I wanted the same cone filter's ability to suck in more air but didn't like the idea of it sucking in hot air which is basically less air..... so i did this

along with this

second pic is basically a sorta scoop that takes air from the outside, near passenger foglight, and directs it to the filter.

I''ve heard the Injen intake doesn't do much for any sort of performance. Just some extra looks.... planetsoarer compared a few intakes and BFI was basically the only way to go. So I think I'm going with plexiglass top and some sort of heat shielding around the box (bottom, sides), lowering that lip for the cold air scoop effect and blocking up the battery side with some more heat shielding.
The only one problem that I have with the BFI is that the US license plates are blocking some of the passage of the cold air.

LexAnt - did you feel significant gains from the mod u did with the Injen Intake? It does look nicer in the engine...just curious

i can vouch that with just the intake and heat shield they give, it felt like a loss in power. simply cuz it was sucking up hot air. however, after the scoop and airbox, i feel it's better off now. i'd say i got some gains. hard to reallie compare to a bfi, but the concept is still there since during drives, cool air is being directed towards the filter which negates the heatsoak loss. fyi, i kno sc400's 1st gen uzfes (92-95) have dyno'ed around 170-175rwhp stock, i dyno'ed with a jic catback and this intake at 196rwhp/219rwtq, and this is with a crappy air/fuel ratio that dip below 10:1, forgot to reset the ecu to make the adjustments.

also some say the stock airbox is better because of the resonator on it providing enough air for low speed, meaning more torque. but the intake shows it's gains in the high rpm when the high flow air needs to get in. so i guess it's a tradeoff... but it seems i still have enough torque so i'm happy.

It's exciting to feel the gains from a modded air duct, but also kind of a dissapointment when you realize that it's all limited by the lame ignition advance in the ecu.
You may need to adjust the idle Co (mixture) screw that's in the MAF to get the most from a modded intake, even when just cruising, and sometimes to pass smog. If you do, mark where the screw was to begin with so you can start over after you hopelessly mess it all up.
