Default Fuel Calculations for NA/T

I'm trying to follow Corky Bell's calculations from Maximum Boost. It's great reading, but you need a lot of information to follow his advice to spec. out a turbo system

I am getting different information regarding what fuel system will support 300-350 rwhp. Some say the stock fuel system with 6x330 can handle it!

Does anyone know where I can find the output of the fuel pump (l/min or lbs/min) and the duty cycle of the 330 fuel injectors at redline?

I tried a search and I looked in the shop manual. Any help woulp be appreciated.

Also, the supra NA/T people talk about stalling problems with 6x440 injectors because of too much fuel at idle. Anyone have any input on 6x440 injectors vs 6x330 + 2x440 (with a separate controller for the 2 extra). I want to avoid a full stand alone engine management system

Thanks

I have a vpc/afc with 525 injectors, on the afc lo map i have about 20% fuel pulled out, and the car is at 14.7 afr at idle. The guys that are stalling may not be pulling the extra fuel out.

I see you are running stock fuel with an SAFC.

How well is it working and how much power are you putting down?

Are you going to the 440's for more power or do you have problems with not enough fuel?

thanks

Jon

At around zero degrees F, and 9psi of boost, and just the stock 330s hooked up, I've yet to run lean. I'm running a Supra MK3 turbo fuel pump. This is on a T60-1.

Low temps are the most demanding on the fuel system due to the higher density of the air (and resulting higher fuel requirement).

I'd say 300rwhp is no problem for stock fuel provided the pump can keep the rail full.

At that 0 degrees F, I was able to adjust the S-AFC to get below 10:1 A/F on an extended pull, so I'd say there is some extra margin in there. Whether or not my results are typical - I dunno.

At stock compression, the stock injectors should suffice, unless you've got some incredible airflow at low boost that is requiring extra fuel. I also have Crower 270 cam regrinds that increase flow at high rpm. Stock compression turbo's like it really rich, mainly to avoid detonation. I seem to run best in the high 10 a/f range. 11:1 a/fs seem to produce EGTs that are a little scarry.

Scott

Thanks for the info.

I'm considering a stock supra tt head gasket which I'm told will give me about 9:1compression with a 60 turbo.

I'd like to start with the stock 330's and an upgraded fuel pump (supra tt or walbro) and aim for 300 rwhp. 440's if I go for 350 rwhp.

Do you think this combo will work OK?

TT gasket calculated out will give you 8.75:1 actually... and when you drop compression you also require more fuel to make the same amount of power...

according to Scott (motorheaddown) the tt hg will bring the cr to low 9s. I think he calculated the 2 mm hg brings you closest to 8.5:1
