Default A question about the transmission...

My apologies if this has already been mentioned or asked.

I conducted a search to no avail.

If the question has been asked, please move this to the appropriate thread.
Thank you in advance!

Now my question.

Typically when winter roads become sloppy, or there is lots of snow & ice, I like to start my vehicles from second gear.
Whether or not the vehicle has all-wheel drive I do this regardless, so as to reduce wheel spin and not have TCS engage.

So now... my observation of the NX.
We have the non- F sport version.
I cant seem to start it off in 2nd.
Once the vehicle drops below ~15km/h it shifts down to 1st by itself.
What am I doing wrong?
Do I have to shift into "sport mode" ?

How about the rest of you with F-sport, or non- F Sport?
Are you able to start off from second gear?

I realize this point may be moot, or futile since it is an automatic transmission, and most may not care...
Thanks for any input from you more experienced folks.

The short answer is you can't start in 2nd gear.

Now, I haven't had the opportunity to test this which works on the IS. Basically, if the car comes to a full stop while the ABS is kicking in, the car is intelligent to know you're on a slippery surface such that you will be able to manually select 2nd gear and start from that.

Snow is gone now here so if anyone can test this, would be great.

There is snow button, right underneath the button to turn traction control off. The snow button reduces wheel spin on acceleration.

Thank you both for the prompt reply!

I will play around with the snow button and learn as we go...
The Mrs and I are still trying to figure out all the tech on the vehicle

I figured I was doing something wrong, or broke the car all ready

edit: Doh! I just checked tonight... I don't see a snow button.
I'll just forget about it for now, not enough snow around to test out CorradoMR2's suggestion... though knowing our weather it will snow again in august or july
Thanks again for the help!
Much appreciated
