new owner and wondering if anyone can shed some light regards to 06 gs300 auto transmission. From a full stop, when accelerating i have having two issues:
1. 2nd gear seems very shortest gear engaged vs. other gears.
Have you driven the car in sport mode?
Have you used the transmission in semi-manual mode?
If so, did the former still make it seem lethargic?
Did the latter reinforce the short 2nd gear ratio feeling?
If not, then could just be the algorithm used to keep the revs down while making progress, to increase fuel economy.
What's the mileage?
Did you buy privately or from a dealer?
If a dealer, do they have another car on the lot that will let you gauge whether it's just unfamiliarity with the car, or possibly a problem with yours?

I have driven the car in sport mode and its response is quicker.
I have driven the car in semi-manual mode and everything seems normal.
When driving in normal mode, only the 2nd gear seems lethargic.
The shift from 2nd to 3rd gear is very prompt, barely reaching 1500 rpm.
current miles is 39k
i purchased the car from a private party w/ clean title.
Worth chatting to a local dealership, in case it has learning capability.
I know the E65/E66 7 Series had that, and you could reset it so it learnt your style.
I'd be surprised if the GS did, but you never know unless you ask.
See if they can let you drive one of theirs, just to confirm/rule out yours not being as it should.
I have a similar issue, usually happens while driving behind a granny driver driving 40 in a 60, and Im stuck behind them. I just swap to semi, and it goes away. Pretty sure its just trying to keep me at low gear for fuel economy purposes, as described above.
