Default Dashcam Install Help - No Power from 5A Fuse Tap

Hi Members,

I looked at this post https://www.clublexus.com/forums/nx-...ding-wire.html on installing a Dashcam....I bought Add a Fuse adapter another member recommended (spydrman3) https://www.amazon.com/Pico-0956PT-Blade--Circuit-Holder/dp/B001QRSBW0/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1449354763&sr=8-4&keywords=tap+a+fuse instead of the one posted by NXOwner in same thread earlier. I can't get power to my Viofo Camera using the 12V to 5 V USB Adapter I bought. I also tried a second brand new USB adapter and same issue no power to Camera so it's not the Adapter. If I power the dashcam via included Cigarette lighter adapter it works...so dashcam itself is ok.

My adapter is Mini ATM Add-a-Fuse Tap and NXOwner recommended a Mini ATT Add-a-Fuse Tap. I add the fuse to same power accessory fuse location (5 amp) like picture below. He used the Mini ATM fuse looks like instead of ATT fuse.

You guys think the power tap of ATM vs ATT fuse could be the issue? I also tried to crimp the Power exposed bare wire from USB Adaptor to the 5 Amp fuse and put it into the fuse location but still no power to camera. I have hard-wired the 12V to 5V Adapter in another 2 cars with No issues....but no luck in the NX. So I don't want to fry anything in the fuse box so I stopped and out of ideas what to try next.

Thanks for any advice.
Ray

The add a fuse adapters I've used in the past had two slots. You plug it in and install the original fuse in one slot and a second fuse (for your new circuit) in the other slot. I can't tell from your picture if you have two fuses installed or just one. This may account for no voltage downstream.

UPDATE: Feel stupid.... I reversed the Power and Ground wires when hooking up to Fuse Box. The Red wire in the 12V- to 5V Adapter had the U shape connector which I attached to Ground bolt under the dash. Had to cut if off and then attached a new U connector to the black wire to attach to ground bolt. Everything working now...hope this helps another newbie like me

Here is how the USB Adapter came....confused me with that U connector on the Red Power wire.
