Default Flush Engine Before switching to Synthetic

Just purchased a 1995 es300 and it is due for an oil change, I'm going to switch to Valvoline maxlife synthetic 5w-30w and use thier new maxlife oil filter (the car has 81,500 miles on it)
I've read here and on other forums that you shoul flush the engine befor switching to a synthetic oil.
If this is so any sugestions as to what flush to use and anyone had any experience with the maxlife synthetic oil or filter? As a side note he had the dealer do his oil changes and used quaker state dino oil ( he had the 250,000 mile waranty from quaker state, but it reads use chage oil every 4,000 miles and he's slighly over that now--so they would not honnor the waranty now--i'm assuming)

This is good to know....I've been thinking of switching to synthetic as well but not sure if I'll have to do a full flush first. My gut instinct says we shouldn't have to do a flush.

Also...I recall having seen a discussion regarding switching back and forth between synthetic and fossil oils and I doubt if a full flush was involved each time.

Cool

I use Amsoil ASL 5W 30 in my 01 ES (along with Amsoil HD oil filter). They recommend using their engine flush when switching to their synthetic oil. The bottle was about $5.00 & have to run (idle only) the engine for about 20 - 25 mins. It's a wise idea if the engine flush isn't too expensive. Here is the link for more info:

I've never flushed an engine when switching from dino to synthetic. Just switch and you might want to do the first OC after 5K since the synthetic might clean your engine better then the dino did. If you want to go to www.bobistheoilguy.com and ask the oil guru's

Don't know why you would need to flush. The most popular synthetics state they are fully compatible with conventional motor oils. The synthetics will probably clean your engine eventually. Flushing is overrated, IMHO. You can end up causing more problems. If you're not having any problems right now, I would recommend just drain and fill.

Just keep in mind that synthetics will clean out someof the gunk in the engine. Some people with higher mileage cars experience leaks afterwards so I would keep a close eye on the oil level and various components after switching.

For $5 I couldn't go wrong & put close to 8,000 miles since I switched & no problems so to me, it was a small price to pay (I know my engine was clean anyways but thought I'd give it a try once).
