Is it true you cannot get the power rear hatch to operate by pressing the button?
Hi, New owner of a 2013 Lexus LX570. Left the world of MB and the LX570 is just awesome. Went to look at a GX460 and REALLY liked the LX and drove home with it that afternoon.
Anyway my question is about the power rear hatch. I have searched this forum and cannot find the answer to my wife's question. We can open the rear hatch by pressing the remote but more often we walk up to the vehicle and press the button and the rear hatch opens. This is how it worked on three different Mercedes ML 350's. The Lexus sales rep is telling me that pressing the rear hatch button will NOT raise the hatch but we have to lift it up manually. This is not a problem for me but my wife has a problem with this. This cannot be correct. Can someone please verify this to be the case or if not what needs to be done to activate this feature so I can press the button on the rear hatch and have it power open. Thanks for any info.

I am afraid you wife will be disappointed.
Lexus when with safety and thought it would not be wise to have the door power open with you standing in front of it. They even include a "beep" and "delay" when you hit the "close" button to give you time to get out of the way.
Only way to power open the rear hatch is to use the fob OR push the button on the dash.
Opening the hatch by hand requires little strength as if you just pull it towards you it will finish opening by itself.
