WTH? Driver headlight went out, then came back on?
Not sure why, but i was creeping in traffic, very light rain and my driver side HID headlight went out..about a few minutes later it came back on and has been on ever since even with a few power cycles..no issues. Only thing I did notice is a slightly less white appearance on that bulb Aim is good, no pink going on with the bulb either. Looks like the adaptive motors are ok too.
Initial thought is that there is an issue with the bulb or a problem with the ballast potentially. Got an appt at Lexus tomorrow to look at it.
Anyone ever had this happen before? Thanks in advance

It sounds like someone (possibly an idiot or a cheapskate) replaced just the passenger side bulb and not the drivers side. HID bulbs must always be replaced in pairs, because they age to a lower kelvin temp, closer to halogen. At this point, you may need to just replace both bulbs.

You will probably need a new bulb.
"End of life cycling" is a phenomena associated with HID bulbs as they age.

good stuff! Thanks. I thought I knew a thing or two about HID, never knew about the cycling thing. I have a 2003 Acura TL also and it is on it's 2nd set of HIDs @ 127K miles, so not too bad and replacing in pairs is a must for sure. I replaced those when one if those discolored so maybe it never got to the point of fail cycling. I did buy the LS used so their is no telling. I know a vendor that can give me a good look on some Kaixen 5000K's..not sure about 6000K since I drive alot at night..need closer to stock 4100-4300K for max light on road but just a touch more color. I''l still have lexus look at it to make sure I don't have a ballast issue or igniter..got 6K miles left on factory 4/50

Insert (Staples "That Was Easy") here: Took it to the Lexus dealer yesterday, they replaced bulb under warranty and it appears to match perfectly now with no issues of cutting out anymore. I think JMCraney's post was right on point. Thanks!
I know bulbs should be replace in pairs, but I ain't complaining with a warranty fix. Next time I have an issue I'll get a pair of bulbs and put them in myself since it will be past my 50K anyway. I have access to a lift and can get the front wheels off and get into the fender liner area pretty easy that way.
Thanks again for your responses!
