My Dash--If Screaming would help.
I got into my car headed to work this morning and after backing out of the garage, noticed that my dash is cracking and peeling up around the windshield. (2008 600h L)
I had the windows tinted about a week ago, and am wondering if they could have dropped or left some sort of cleaner or chemicals on the dash. Has anyone seen anything like this before?

I would be screaming too! Never seen this before but it looks as if some type of chemicals caused the problem.

That spot is on the passenger side right by the windshield and speaker. Given the slope of the glass and how tight it is there I have no idea how any cleaner or chemicals could have gotten there. If there was some type of spill I'd think it would show in the middle of the leather and that doesn't seem to be the case.
I'd be taking this to your dealer ASAP to get them to tell you what happened. If it's a defect Lexus may help out here and replace it as a goodwill gesture. If it's not a defect then they'll give you a really good idea of how this might have happened. Although the 600 was never mentioned, this might also end up being the issue: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls4...ashboards.html
I'd be screaming too and swearing a lot more after that. I know full well what a leather covered 600hl dashpad costs.

I will give you an update as soon as I get to the dealership. I am going to go ahead and schedule the fuel line recall and have them look at it then.
Thanks for the replies.

If this happened after tinting then this makes me suspect that the tinting work caused it. They might have used toots to tuck in the tinting film that cracked the dash or displaced it causing cracking.

I'd say it has a ton to do with whatever the tint guy used for chemicals. There was no sign of this happening until after the windshield was tinted? Because it looks like whatever he sprayed on the windshield traveled down to the dash.

Ouch, good luck with the fix.
These cars are left under the screaming sun in the gulf countries and they still hold up like it's nothing. It is not an OEM defect.
So must be something done where you got it tinted. Hopefully they stand to their name and make this an easy situation for you. GL.

Following up on this thread, I took my car in to the dealership for the fuel line replacement. They provided me a loaner, RX 350, Thursday afternoon and had my car ready Friday at 2:00. I picked it up Saturday, pleased to find that they had washed it and filled the tank with gas.
The service person told me not to worry, the dash would be covered under the warranty extension. She said that the parts would not be available until around November.
So, I will have to live with the eyesore for a few months, but it is good that Lexus will cover the repair.
Forgot to mention, I could not wait to get my car back. I had forgotten how nice it was to drive without hearing the engine roar or feel every bump on the road. The RX was fun to drive in the manual mode.

Wow, that's wild. And no sign of it before today?

There shouldn't be any chemicals used that would cause an issue such as that...
