Get the mast but make sure it is steel and not aluminium. Also make sure you take out the piece of plastic gear strip that broke off in there before installing new one. Somewhere on ebay they sell the steel mast
It is an easy replacement, although the (graphite-based ?) grease is messy if you have to disassemble the unit to get the remainder of the plastic drive tape out of it. It has been quite a few years since I did it, but I seem to remember that there is a secret code that you key into the channel-select buttons to calibrate the retract to fully seat the antenna.
No secret code just turn radio on put in turn radio off. But you need two people (one at the radio and one at antennae) just make sure gear tape is removed from old antennae or antenna will not seat all the way.
sweet, ordered a replacement mast already and was able to pull the whole cable out, so wont need to take the motor apart and get pieces out. Seen a couple videos on how to do it and now the write up for it, thanks guys!!
