Default Uneven Pad wear- Odd

I'm re-doing the rear on my '97.
When I took the drivers side brake pads off, I found that they were extremely slanted.
I know the uneven pad wear could be due to the calipers, but I don't know if it could be cause by anything else (lousy installation, or?).

Even with a single piston caliper? I'm not really sure how the setup works but I did figure out what the pins were. So cleaning and greasing them should fix the issue?

yes, they have to be able to "float" or slide as some call it

clean and lube with a dry film lubricant everything in the sliding section (look for those little accordion looking boots and you are in the right place) - at this point it will likely take some fine sandpaper

this stuff is good

be careful on lubrication, you need to use a dry film lubricant, such as silicon paste - like this

and the main thing is don't let any lubricants get on the rotor side of the pads or on the rotors

if you screw up and get some grease on either of these places, then you have to get some 91% alcohol or brake cleaner and remove it before putting things back together

other great lubricants for the sliding pins are Molykote M77, Sil-Glyde or Dow Corning 111

I got them moving pretty nicely! One side was terribly difficult but on the other they came out nice and easy after using on blaster. Thanks for the help guys!
