Default california car

Wondering if I could get some help, Iam having a bank 1 catalytic code pop up on my 2000 ls400. I replaced the converter and still having a problem. Was wondering if i have a California emission car and how to tell.

thanks

It will tell you on the sticker under the hood. It says CA on there somewhere I believe. I had the same problem.

The 2000 LS400 sold in the 48 contiguous U.S. states had the ULEV certification (Ultra Low Emmisions Vehicle). There was no separate version for California.

give us the code...

if it was p0430/p0420 then you probably should have looked for exhaust leaks before replacing the cats....

negative, the LS430 was one of the first gas v8s to get that cert.

I stand corrected. The 1999-2000 LS400 was T-LEV ... Transitional Low Emission Vehicle

magnaflow makes one that's bolt-in. don't worry about the california-only one as that's just for CARB smog purposes.

yeah, the cali cats cost more because california now requires all OBDII+ cars to use "registered" cats, which usually cost a fair bit more.

A cat made for CARB spec but not necessarily "california approved" should work fine.

Call magnaflow, i'm sure they'd be able to clarify further.
