Default 98 LS400 90k

Is the above vehicle worth 6K? Im looking to get it but would like to get peoples opinions about it. has very minimal body rust and a dent here and there. Xenon headlights, full power, although the alarm does not work and the radio display is shot (will not illuminate nor display text). I'm looking for a vehicle that I can keep outside and is reliable. Its mostly for occasianal driving as I have a work vehicle and my wife has a 07 GS350 which we love... Anyway let me know... thanks

Sounds like a bit too good of a price. With that low of miles, should be like 8-10K.

I know what you saying thats why I'm hesitant on getting the vehicle.... I did test drive it and it ran very well on side streets did not take it on the highway but will do it tomorrow... I really like the car but like you said it seems too good to be true for the price or and its a 1999 not a 1998 as I stated before

Get a thorough pre-purchase inspection at Lexus if you're serious. Price sounds low but I picked up my 99 LS for $5500. Had 139k though...and needed the timing belt done. But for the above listed blemishes...it sounds good.

Thanks,,, how much did the timing belt run you? the owner of this vehicle states it has not been done yet and from reading here i know at 100k its recommended... I'm just curious as too how much it might cost.

lol the cameraman commented several times on it's price of "$80,000 new".

no. it based at $54,100 NEW, with options present on that car (no nav/nak) it was well under $60,000.

asking 6k? so $6k + ~$800-1200 for the timing belt/wp/idlers (parts+labor) + ~$1000-1500 for the body damage on the pass. quarter panel= ~8000-9500 for a decent condition '99 with low mileage.

i'd rather just find one with an extra 20-30k on it that's had the tb done and doesnt have any body damage.

Reliable is relative. It may not leave you stranded, but my 99 has had every "common" problem. I feel like Toyota added smoothness at the cost of long term reliability (all the rubber will eventually need replaced). It's not as simple as it should be either.

In the end I'm happy to change all that crap out, because it's my highway/everyday car, and I plan on keeping it for a long time. You may end up feeling like everytime you drive it you have another problem.

On balance, I know the LS has no major faults like, for example, the 540i's crappy coolant system, or the 330i's cracking rear subframe.

that, and you'd be replacing bushings in those beemers too, and they wouldnt be nearly as easy nor as cheap as doing it on the LS
