95+ speedometer removal write up?
On my 96 the speedometer stopped working. I already searched and I found my answers but I did not see a write-up (tutorial) on the 95+ cars, I did find it for the 94 and older cars though! I have all the tools to remove it even the plastic trim removal tools so I do not gouge up the dash. If no one can link me to a write up then other than extending and lowering the steering wheel, is the rest self explanatory? Is there anything I should be aware of when pulling the instrument cluster out? If no one has done one, I will do a write-up.

I haven't seen a tutorial for the 95+ model but it can't be too dissimilar to the 94 year, just be careful removing the connectors as there is not a lot of free loom and don't forget to push the tab in to release the connectors.
If you could do a picture tutorial it would be greatly appreciated.

You're not beating it, the speedo just needs a little jolt to get unstuck. I do it all the time so I don't think you'll have a problem doing it once to test if that is the issue. That's the easiest way to diagnose that issue unless you like wasting time and effort. It will work intermittently depending on ambient temp/humidity because of the chemical characteristics of the residue on the needle/stopper.

Never had any problems with the cluster in my '97 till Sunday morning. I noticed the needles lighting up, then going off in a second or two. No dials lit at all. I must have turned the dash lights off when I cleaned the interior the day before. Turned the lights up, all was well. The feeling of relief was sweet!
