Cost of windshield replacement on 96 LS
It was very cold in my area. The windshield made a 2-foot long crack while I was warming up the car, blowing the hot air toward the windshield to melt the ice.
The dealer wants $1663 for the windshield part only.
A big local glass store wants $367 for labor and part (with aftermarket windshield).
I called the third one-man glass store. The labor only would be $87. So I picked up a windshield of a 1998 LS for $75 from a local junkyard. It took a total of $162 plus tax to get it fixed.

Pole Position
dashan; to buy a used windsheild and have it installed all for less then $200, you got yourself a damn good deal there. Even if ya have a little leak in it, just add some sealant and you're good to go. Much better than almost $2000.

you can repair the defroster lines with silver conductive paint which you use to repair printed circuit boards. it comes in mini bottles like nail varnish. let dry for several hours. http://cgi.ebay.com/REAR-DEMISTER-RE...item2eb2bd7ade
