Default Looking to buy a '98 LS400

Hello,

I took a look at a '98 tan LS400. The owner wanted $11,000. It has about 88,000 miles and has most of the options (Navi, heated seats, HID, chrome wheels, air suspension, CD changer, sunroof). The car looks like it is in good condition. It gets regular maintanence. The timing belt has not been replaced.
However, the paint has dings and chip marks especially on the edge of the doors and rack and pinion is leaking a little.

Do you guys think this is a good buy?

Also, is the air suspension a problem for this year? It seems like the first generation LS400s are having problems with shocks leaking air.

Lastly, is the paint chip marks repairable with touch up paint and detailing? Would the repair be noticeable?

Let me know what you guys think. Thanks.

seems like a damned good deal

take pics of the interior w/air susp. the navi+a/s post m/c LS400 is prolly one of the rarest combos in the U.S.
i say "one of the rarest" because a black/black car would be even rarer.

CD changer and sunroof were pretty much standard. things to look for are Wood/leather steering wheel and shift **** and HID headlights.

take pics, run the vin, have it checked out by a dealer and go BUY IT!!

Agreed, 100% the one we had was 2000 with hid, wood wheel, but no navi. Purchased Black / Tan (didnt end up that way though! )

I agree, after you run the vin and everything is cool, go for it! Sounds like what I was looking for but I bought a car already. Good luck!

I too agree. $11K for a 98 with 88K miles and all that options is a great deal. Hopefully everything is on the up and up with this car and check it out carefully. If all seems good jump on this deal

Sounds like a deal. That one rare LS for sure. With the exception of european spec LS's (i saw one the day before yesterday) we didnt get a lot of navi/air suspension LS's in the US.

Make sure it doesnt have any frame damage, and use the 90K as a bargining chip, and lets us know what happens.

I called her back, and she told me it got sold. I am going to look at another one, but without the a/s and heated seats. It is black on black with 95,000 miles. He is asking for $13,000. Will let you know what happens.

asking price is too high for a 98.
