Transmission over fill!
To much transmission fluid
Hi, I checked my tranny fluid this morning with the engine cold and it read full at the hot mark. Then I brought the engine up to operating temp and checked again and it was over the hot mark by a good bit ( maybe a quart over ). The fluid was changed ( drain and fill ) by a local Toyota dealer about two months ago, Will this do any damage? I'm going to take it back to the dealer and see whats up but I wanted an opinion if this will hurt the transmission. It's a 98 LS. 55K. Thanks M
One more thing, anyone have a rattle that sounds like a heat shield from under? Seems to go away after warmup.

Thanks for your response, but I did check it at operating temp and cold. It is over on both, I just need to how bad this would be. I'll be going back to the dealer ASAP.

Do i need to have it running when checking, even when cold? I was not sure? I first checked when cold before I started the car and it read at the top of hot/cold area on the dipstick. Do you always check while running, even when cold? Thanks
