Replacement for Plastic Lever Contraption for 2009 LS460 Trunk Release Mechanism?
Hi, posting this for a friend here, as I don't own an LS.
My friend's trunk no longer closes/locks correctly, and after taking apart the entire trunk assembly we've deduced that the plastic rotating assembly (the one that rotates/locks the actual latch) is cracked and broken. The moving center piece with the arm no longer stays inside the plastic Y-shaped housing, and therefore when the motor actuates the trunk doesn't unlock.
My question is, aside from buying the entire latch assembly (which is a mind blowing $350), does Lexus or anyone else sell JUST this plastic assembly, or even for that matter, the electrical wiring harness just for the latch? The rest of the latch works, it's just this plastic part that isn't, and from what I can tell, the electrical tongs are sandwiched between the plastic pieces. If that's not available, has anyone ever attempted to 3D scan/design/print a replacement part?
Thank you!

If you can find out who manufactures this unit and write to them, they might give you the part. I did this with my lumbar support and the company in Canada that makes it sent me the plastic gear that had disintegrated. Alternatively, see if you can find an LS at a breaker's yard and replace the unit.
