Default B pillar replacement and tranny tsib

Team -

I had both of these TSiB's performed along with my fuel rail replacement recall. I definitely notice improved shifting after the firmware update. It's smoother and more logically patterned whereas before I'd label low shifts "abrupt."

I wanted to give a special shout out to the new b-pillars though. What an improvement! Much better material and design!!!! They are night and day different from the cheap molded foam that was OEM. I can't say enough about the difference. If you haven't had this done, be sure to note it for your next service.

Hello ls460love: Can you advise on the B pillar TSIB? I am unaware of any cosmetic or mechanical issues on this area of the 460. In addition, just called my 2 local Lexus Dealers, and they didn't have any indication or a TSIB related to this area.Thx, J.

I'll gladly post pics when I am back in town (sorry but that's Tuesday). I'm traveling until Monday.

The b-pillar is from about head height to the floor on both sides of the interior. If you currently have the hard foam type material, you're included from what I've gathered thus far. My new pillars are very similar to the dash in materials, feel and construction.

Default Driver side New b-pillar

New B-pillar design (inside the square outline)

The first production of the LS460 will have the arm rest connected to the b pillars. the picture is the new design which has the curve side. New LS460's already have them from factory.

Just for clarification, Lexus has smoothed out the hump on the B-Pillar, which was an extension of the armrest. The "hump" is shown on my B-Pillar and is the source of the complaint about premature wear. As can be seen on New to IS3's pic above, the armrest no longer flows into the B-Pillar, allowing the belt to strike a smooth surface instead of the hump. My 600 has about 18K miles on it. Ironically, my 460 had 35K miles on it when I traded it in, and it did not have this problem. Then again, my 460 was a SWB as opposed to the LWB I have now. The front seat travel is much greater on the longer wheelbase, so I suspect this may have been a significant contributing factor.
