Default New LS Coming Out?

Hello All,

This is my first time posting on the site, but I've been following the posts in the LS forum for about three months now. I've been a Toyota driver for a long time and am looking to move up to its luxury division and get a new LS. You guys on this forum have definitely inspired me to do so with all the pics, articles, and reviews you guys have put up on this site. However, the current generation LS came out in 2006 as a 2007 model and I believe that they do a refresh every 5-6 years. That implies that there will be a refresh of the LS in the next 1-2 years. Am I right? I'm looking to get a new LS, but I can certainly wait a year or two if it means getting the new generation. I'd rather not drop $80k and have the new generation come out the next year. What do you guys think? When is the new generation LS coming out? How do you think it will be different? Will it be more like the design that Lexus has on the new 2013 GS?

Thanks,

TtoLS

I hope it wont look like the new gs.... hopefully they will add to what has been successful with this current model and tweak the front end a little bit and do what they do best, keep the reliability great and maybe add more sportiness to the ride or at least have options to do so if we like.

It was a 6-year cycle for the LS430, if the LS460 follows the 6-year cycle again, then the next generation LS "should" be out by next fall as a 2013 model, but we have no info about that yet ......

You have a year and a half wait. Of course if they make some really dramatic changes and demand is high as when the 2007 models debuted, you'll pay full pop unless you wait longer.

Thanks guys. Lexitrician, I certainly agree with you. I think that there will be a major redesign with the 2013 model, both in exterior, interior, and technology. I personally feel as though the technology (especially the navigation system) is getting a little stale in the LS. The RX and this new GS have MUCH better systems. I think that the LS will take this system next fall as well. Also, Gojirra99, I notice that you have the executive package (nice pics, BTW). I was planning on getting it too. Do you think it's worth it? Can you extend the ottoman while a person sits in the front passenger seat?

Also, I remember that Akio Toyoda said that Lexus would have 9 new or updated models by the end of 2012, so that's why I was wondering. Boy, I hope we get some news soon!

It is worth it to me, but may not be for others, and I can understand why. And you can't have a front passenger when the Ottoman is extended, and the executive seat isn't really designed for tall people, I cannot have my legs fully extended when the ottoman is fully extended, and I'm 5'11". So it's really not for tall people. So you should try it yourself first if you are the one that's going to be in that seat most of the time. But wives, girl friends and kids will probably enjoy it LOL

I think it's going to be a 2014 model available next summer...

The next generation LS will probably have the spindle grill treatment in the front since that's the new "face" of Lexus. The rest of the body likely will be more evolutionary. We will probably see the design end of next year and it will be a 2013 model, like previously mentioned by other posters.

Default new LS rumors

Guys, my friend from Japan who's working for Grazio company, told me that there's a rumor that next generation of LS will be introduced at Tokyo Motor Show in december! That guy published scans of restyled LS brochures last year. So he's very close to Lexus Japan R&D office.

Well, it looks like I'm going to be waiting for another year or so. I'm okay with that, though. I'll drive my Camry for a couple more years and then I'll get the LS. Thanks everyone, and congrats on such nice cars. I hope to be part of this club in a year or two.

Thanks again.
